9. LaLaurie House

The LaLaurie home in New Orleans, Louisiana has a pretty crazy history. The owner Marie Delphine LaLaurie and her husband bought the home in 1831, and apparently had a flair for the sadistic. Madame LaLaurie cruelly tortured her slaves in the privacy of the home until one of them started a fire that led to the chained up slaves being discovered. She fled the country, and yet her ghost seems to hang around the place, along with the ghosts of some of her slaves. Screams are often heard, and some people have reported being attacked by the Madame herself.
