11. The Amityville Horror House
The Amityville Horror House in Amityville, New York was the scene of a grisly mass murder that took place when Ronald DeFeo Jr killed his entire family in their beds. The victims included his parents and four siblings, who were children at the time. This incident occurred in 1974 and the next year the Lutz family moved in – but they didn’t stay long. In the mere month they lived there they experienced slamming doors, cold spots, and all their kids started sleeping face down (which was the same position the murder victims assumed). One of their children seemed to befriend a demonic presence and would have welts arise out of nowhere. Perhaps this folklore was all made up to sell a book and movie, but many people believe it to be true. However, subsequent owners of the house have reported no paranormal incidents (except for the people who come to gawk at their infamous house).
