9. Don’t Mess With Mama

In 2010, 49-year-old Craig Busse climbed to the top of a Chicago billboard to swap out monthly advertisements. What the Chicago resident didn’t count on was the red-tailed hawk that had made her nest among the scaffolding. Busse described finding the nest and then immediately cautioning his fellow employees to stay vigilant. Sure enough, it wasn’t long before the mother hawk showed up to defend her territory. She reportedly flew full force into Busse, ripping open the back of his scalp in one brutal motion.
