2. HRP-2 Demolishes the DARPA Challenge

Meet the Humanoid Robot, “Promet,” or HRP-2, also known as the model-T of things will be hunting you down in the near future. This thing is top of the line. It recently dominated DARPA’s Robotics Challenge Trials, scoring a 27 out of a possible 32 points. With a schedule of tasks aimed at helping humans in a disaster scenario (good cover, machines!), HRP-2 displayed an ability to perform a variety of human activities like driving, walking over uneven terrain and debris, climbing a ladder, moving heavy objects, walking through doors, cutting through a wall, and even closing valves and connecting a hose.
