On TV gameshows the contestants have to play big to win big! But some contestants will stop at nothing to get their prize… Here are 8 People Caught CHEATING on TV Gameshows!
1. Charles Ingram
In 2001 Charles won the UK version of “Who wants to be a millionaire?”. Upon later investigation he was found to be cheating, his wife in the audience would cough to indicate the right answer. Both were charged with conspiring to cheat and steal prize money.
2. Neil Tejwani
Contestant of the “Biggest Loser”, Neil cheated on the initial weigh-in by drinking 2 gallons of water to gain 17 pounds extra on the scales. Angry fans called for his disqualification but he was unpunished and even went on to win the show!
3. Adriana Abenia
On the Spanish TV show Pasapalabra, in a bonus point section “the musical clue”. Adriana raised suspicions by getting everyone right, she was caught using the app Shazam to name that tune!
4. Terry Kniess
A hardcore fan of the show “The price is right “ terry didn’t just watch the show, he studied it. He noticed that the retail items on the show were generally the same and remember all the prices. In 2008 he correctly guessed the exact showroom showdown price winning everything.
5. Michael Larson
On the game show “press your luck” in 1984 Michael won over $100,000, he practiced the game at home by watching it on the VCR and using the pause button to stop the wheel at the right time. On the show, he managed to play 35 times in a row without hitting the whammy button which would end it.
6. Khaled Al Katateny
On who wants to be a millionaire Australia. Khaled won 100,000 dollars. He didn’t know the answers to all the questions, instead, he read the body language and facial expressions of the presenter and audience members to work out the right answer.
7. Patrick Quinn
In 1988 on the game show super password, Patrick won $58,000 which he didn’t get to spend because he was recognized as a known fugitive called Kerry Dee Ketchum wanted for insurance and credit card fraud.
8. Fox
This time the gameshow cheated. On the first million-dollar money drop show, when asked which item retailed first? Brittany and Gabe put $800,000 dollars on post-it notes, the answer was Sony Walkman and they lost 800,000. It was later found out that post-it notes were retailed earlier but under the name press, n, peal. Fox refused their appeals claiming they would have lost it anyway on the next question.
