1. Loggers
There’s an industry term for the broken tops of trees that snag in the canopy of the vast forests where loggers work their trade. Those tops are called “widowmakers” for their tendency to get shaken loose during the logging process and fall on the heads of unsuspecting loggers. Beyond those, sudden violent storms can kick up and wreak havoc on a logging process, resulting in dangerous, twisted trees that can splinter violently when cut. Even the sheer act of daily work, the unpredictable paths of falling trees, can be literal murder for even the most seasoned logger working on the job. Every year, more than 80 people die while logging.
