7. The Elite Fighting Force

In June of 2014, President Obama asked Congress for half a billion dollars to help train moderate Syrian fighters looking to murder Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The President claimed it was important to help train the local population to resist al-Assad’s kind of dictatorship. You know, like how that same plan helped a group of plucky rebels in Afghanistan fight off Russia in the 1980s. Anyway, at least we won’t have to worry about this coming back to hurt us in the future, because the $500 million program has produced “four or five” soldiers who remain in the fight. Fails across the board!
