11. The Melting Training Center

Okay, this one didn’t technically happen in 2015, but it came out in 2015 and it’s so horrible it’s worth mentioning. There was a training complex in Wardak province, Afghanistan that was built to look exactly like a typical Afghan village. Considering the indigenous people manage to build their villages from local materials with little to no capital, you’d think rebuilding one with some American know-how would be a breeze. Five hundred thousand dollars and four measly months later the training camp literally started to melt. MELT! The head honchos at CENTCOM admitted to everything (because know one knows exactly who hires those guys) and said they’d absolutely take corrective action, and even sue the pants off the contractor if need be — which is in no way an attempt to shift the blame. The best part is that even though CENTCOM offered help, the Afghan government said they’d rebuild the place themselves.
