6. Started toilet training immediately
These days the common agreement on toilet training is that kids need to be 18 months to three years old before they’re both emotionally and physically in the place to do it. In the late 19th century, however, there was a little more pressure on tots. Someone decided that babies could and should be potty trained as early as two months, and urged parents to use “soap sticks” to force them to poop if they couldn’t. This was considered character building. Yikes!
