8. Axolotl
The Axolotl, which is also known as the “Mexican walking fish,” has been in danger of going extinct since the 17th century. Habitat issues, including Mexico City’s faulty and neglected drainage system, have been cited as the cause. Sewage and waste have been dumped into the water channel where the Axolotl lives, and unless something drastic happens, this species won’t be around for much longer.
