3. The Snake Myth

There’s an old myth associated with St. Patrick in which he theoretically drove all of the snakes out of Ireland. The thing is, Ireland has never actually had any snakes in it, so that’s like claiming I drove all of the unicorns out of Denver. You’re saying I didn’t? Prove me wrong! Find a unicorn in Denver! At any rate, the “snakes” in question are largely thought to represent the Druids who ran Irish religion at the time Patrick brought Christianity to the country.
