5. On That Famous Surname
Guess what? “Trump” isn’t even his real last name. According to Rolling Stone, “an ancestor in the 17th Century in Germany changed the family name from Drumpf to Trump. What a terrific name, and so much easier to work with than Drumpf in the U.S.” Even with this event in his family’s history, Trump still publicly criticized the host of The Daily Show Jon Stewart for adopting a stage name. Of course, Stewart retaliated by claiming that Trump’s real name was “F—face Von Clownstick” a hashtag that trended on Twitter for a few days thereafter. Okay, alright, so Drumpf really had no influence over his surname and no real reason to change it back, making this contradiction a total cheap shot. But a cheap shot that’s fun to take nonetheless.
