The current President of Estonia, Kersti Kaljulaid is not only the first woman to hold the title, she’s also the youngest president in the history of the country. What’s more surprising is that she wasn’t supposed to win the election in 2016. Recent discontent with the state of Estonian politics led to her emerging as a long shot candidate that appeased both side of the aisle. She ended up winning the vote because no one wanted to run against her.
