5. Lions Rescue a Kidnap Victim

In 2005, a 12-year-old girl in rural Ethiopia was snatched from her home while making her way back from school. A week later, the four men who’d kidnapped the poor girl were moving her to evade police when three lions came to her rescue. They successfully chased the men off, then tended to her until authorities arrived. “They stood guard until we found her and then they just left her like a gift and went back into the forest,” police said.
