12. The Trampoline Heimlich

In 2007, Debbie Parkhurst of Calvert, Maryland, was eating an apple when a shard of the fruit became lodged in her throat. That’s when Toby, her 2-year-old Golden Retriever, forced her to the ground and began jumping up and down on her chest until the apple dislodged. Toby then began to lick her face to keep her conscious. Parkhurst ended up with a couple of “paw print-shaped bruises” on her chest but no real damage.
