A fossilized skeleton of a Yutyrannus huali was discovered in China bearing filamentous feathers. Why is that important, you ask? Well, the Yutyrannus is a close relative to the Tyrannosaurus rex. So it’s very possible (let’s say just say ‘likely’) that the T. rex might also have been a feathered friend. As yet, palaeontologists have not found a T. rex skeleton with any evidence of this. The rock the Yutyrannus was found in allowed for the preservation of the feathers, whereas the type of rock the T. rex is usually found in would not. Either way, boom! Fluffy T.rex.
