In my house, we take the garbage out about three times a week. Sometimes it gets kind of full, but as an adult, that’s my prerogative. As a kid, I took the garbage out every day. Why? Because it was part of my chores. Stupid character-building exercises my parents thought were good for me. Made me averse to taking out the garbage is what chores did.
