2. Stan Lee Is Watching You
Those of you who don’t read comics will probably have no idea who I’m talking about. Basically, in the Marvel comic universe there’s a species of superpowered beings called ‘The Watchers’ who, wait for it… watch things (unbelievable!) Every major event in history, every occurrence that started a change in the world, all of it is observed by the Watchers. The being who has been assigned to observe (or chose to observe by himself; I’m a little sketchy on the particulars) the events tied to the human world is called Uatu.
So far, comic book writer Stan Lee has appeared in pretty much every Marvel film, both with Marvel Studios and Sony, as a background character who is somehow always present when things are about to go down. Strange, for a little old gentleman who apparently not only manages to get to Miami, New Mexico, New York, planet Xandar and back again but also manages to pin down a couple jobs while he’s at it.
However, if Stan Lee were actually Uatu, not only would it give him a way and a reason to be in all these places, it would also tie all the films (from both studios) together in one giant, though contradictory, universe. And even then, it still wouldn’t be anywhere near as confusing as the Comic-verse.
