We’ve still got eleven months to go until the next Presidential election, but this campaign cycle has already been one of the longest and most publicized. It’s also been dominated by a certifiable pack of whack jobs who’ve hijacked the news cycle for more than a year and a half. If you can look past what this circus says about the horrendous state of democracy in America, the last year has also been freaking hilarious as candidate after candidate have gone down in a blaze of media criticism. Here are some of the biggest gaffes from the campaign trail … so far.
1. Carly Fiorina Fights Planned Parenthood
Let’s be honest, Carly Fiorina never actually had a shot at the top job. She came into the election polling in the single digits and never really got much higher than that. In fact, the most attention her campaign got was in her highly publicized battle with Planned Parenthood. During a GOP debate, Fiorina loudly declared that she’d seen a video taken at a Planned Parenthood clinic which showed, “a fully formed fetus on the table, its heart beating, its legs kicking while someone says, ‘We have to keep it alive to harvest its brain.’” Yeah, those videos were a hoax, but that didn’t stop Fiorina repeatedly doubling down on the lies until she found herself right out of a campaign.
